 Hijab

The darting glance of her sad eyes and solemn look,
robed in a black garment barely touching the ground,
underneath is hiding the beauty which they took,
masking what could be joy but most likely a frown.

She yearns to be free from the archaic traditions,
to grow up with the world as she was meant to do,
encircled and trapped by the sons of perdition,
her veil the last refuge until her time is through.
