 Hiding Places

I wonder what he is doing now? Has he descended into hell, or
did he finally make his way up to heaven? I hadn't talked to
him in years before he passed away, so he could have begged
his way up...there ain't no tellin'.

He sowed a row of kids and left them high and dry back in
California, ('bout six in all). He abducted me and used me as
a bargaining chip to see what he could get out of grandma and
grandpa 'cause they had wagon loads of love to go around.

I guess the farm was a blessing in disguise; a place where I could
plant my feet firmly on solid ground. I spent my growing up years
there and he lived only an hour away, (a hop, skip and a jump), yet
he hardly ever found the time to come  around.

That's because he planted another row ('bout six in all) of kids
that he fathered. They are the ones which finally planted him.
I suppose the decent thing would have been to inform his first
born son, "me", but no one even bothered.

So, here's a tribute to you dear old dad, who left and abandoned
us like pieces of trash - like candy wrappers after you have eaten
what's inside. I suppose that where ever you are going to you will
find the ultimate place to hide.

I pray not.
