 don't do that

quiet
they come
we can't predict
the arrival
nor should we
reaching the shore
there is waging
the final war
left to be dealt
swiftly felt
from across the seas.
they are children
they seem free
yet still they bleed.
perched atop our
grand facade
can't even see past
the glory of our disguise..
oh the mystery of demise
are we among the greats
the minds
the philosophers
of original thought
the pioneers of truth
are we so bold as to
proclaim our worth
to be more than those dying
before our very eyes...
So, go on in your
wonder of a life,
married to your toils of the law
forgetting the true beauty of it all
married to the material things
while her first steps your missing
for granted and forgotten..
It is the distraction
the false satisfaction
and on the stone will be this caption
rested here for all time
the family he never knew
is left behind.....
don't do that
