I've been through a lot at a young age. Poetry helps me put my thoughts in order. Poetry helps me express my feelings. I have written a lot of poems but this one holds the most meaning for me. This poem is my first life lesson. Don't take happiness for granite
A smile is just a smile
If there's no pain behind it
Sunshine is just sunshine
If there's no rain around it
Life is just Life
Until death destroys it, or alters it
And happiness is just happiness
Until sadness consumes it
Life isn't to be taken for granite
Most learn the hard way
Just remember never lose hope
If you lose your smiles
Learn to turn them around
Learn to stand up
If you get knocked down
If life gets cloudy
Learn to fight through the rain
Let the sun shine through after all your pain
And once the rain stops falling
And the sun shines through
You'll open your eyes
And see the truth
That smile is now a blessing
Once it comes back to you
