Afraid of the Monster?

Are there visions of glaring evil eyes,
sharp gnarly teeth with barbs on a tail,
before you get to sleep at night? Do
you ever wonder if there's a monster
lurking in the closet or under your bed?

Is there a point when you finally sigh,
and convince yourself just before you
fall asleep that it's all in your head?

Are there thoughts that someone is always
watching every move that we make,
recording everything we do, trying as we
must, not to make mistakes? Is it the monster
which resides inside of me … and you?

Only time will tell if we can send these
images to hell, were they belong, and live
a peaceful life if it's the last thing we do.
