you hold my heart
trapped
a bird caught in thorns
struggling, twisting
only embeds
my soul upon their needles
but staying in your arms
terrifies
my cowardly soul
cannot fly, cannot escape
cannot
ever remain with you
staying is death
but, still
I can live without you no more
