Hiding Inside
Bright and loud and shining
dazzling the eyes
my soul dances along the clouds
skimming across the sky in whirls of rainbow
screaming it's joy
singing it's laughter
twirling it's hope
seeking the gaze of all those around
seeking to infect with it's sheer energy
spellbind with it's ecstasy
dancing circles around the world
it cannot be dragged down by thunder but merely leaps away
untouched - still prancing it's wild frenetic dance of life
but........
deep within where noone can see
lies a fortress of thick stone walls
protection for the me hiding inside
cracked walls bulging away
wanting to break into pieces under the pressure of that bright dazzling
hallucination
thicker than blood the tears run in streams
as my soul shrinks and squirms from the light
tucking into the shadows where safety lies
untouchable means unbreakable
unburnable
unfathomable this pain which still seeps in from where I can't tell anymore
but here in the darkness
the edges are soft enough to sleep
and I hide within, sleeping a soft sigh
so my soul can still dance away on the winds
