EXODUS...

For almost nineteen years, he walked
Searching for something he did not need
Yet couldn't live with out
Speaking in double talk
In tongues that made pitchforks
He became weary
And cynical...
Traversing through fery sands barefooted
He longed to sit
Relax in the lap of love's luxury
But such is the curse of the human spirit
We always want what we can't have
He came across a mirage
An image so beautiful to behold
Too beautiful
He shielded his eyes
And thus became blind
Figuring that this image had passed him
He continued to walk among the lost
Until he was stopped in his tracks by the scent
The scent of hope
Of spirit
Of trust
A scent so alluring
That he immediately dropped his own defenses
Dropped to his knees
And was kicked like a stray
Led astray by his own devices
He liked the pain
He enjoyed it
It was drug paraphernalia to him
It had to be
If he kept coming back to be kicked...
Soon the scent became bored of her own game
And moved on
So when he no longer smelled the scent
He became despondent
And crawled to the sound of his heart dripping from his chest cavity
...drip..
...drip...
...drip...
Another drip soon echoed
And became synonomous with his own
He felt the coolness
The wet of the babbling lake
That spoke of future and past tenses
And whispered his name
Which was new to him
He surmised that if she knew his name
Then she knew him
So he laid down now
Within this water
And felt comfortable...
Too comfortable..
The lake was deeper than he had imagined
And he began to drown
As water filled his nose and lungs
He became unconscious
And saw his own demise at the hands of the illusive lake...
He awakens on a sandy beach
Eyes now wide open
The watery sand settling around him
He began to impress his foortprints into it
And walked on
Eyes now wide open...
