Withered

Our eyes meet
across the room
within moments
sparks flew.

When I felt your
embrace for the
first time embers
smoldered, leaping
into raging flames
burning out of control.

Desire pulsed once
again in my withered
and worn out heart.

Instinct screamed run
away before it was to
late, yet I couldn't
turn away from your
angel eyes.

I believed it to be
love that you felt
for me, simply put
it was nothing more
than your masked lust.

These eyes of mine have
been opened to this ominous
unforgivable deceit.

Once again my heart has
withered and died, deemed
to lay unloved for what
seems to be an eternity.
