Dog Years

He cried his heart out
so he could empty his
soul.

He knew his faithful
canine companion had
grown old.

Vets said the little dog
had but only a few more
days to live.

Fifty years passed by;
both gave all they
could give.

It was time to go. Heart-
aches were adrift like
falling snow.

A destined time when
two living beings drift
apart.

One continues to live
while the other silently
departs.
