Danger at the Water's Edge

"I merely want to get a drink of water",
said the King of the jungle to the
big 'ol crocodile.

And the croc said, "yea... and I am
hungry so come close to the water's
edge so we can talk about it awhile.

"I am not looking to swim across your
lake" the King said. I don't want to be
swallowed by you for heaven's sake,
and wound up dead.

"I'll tell you what I can do for a big 'ol
croc like you", he muttered. "I can chase
some wildebeest or zebra your way. You
can moisten my toast while yours is being
buttered.

The 'ol croc said, "I don't know about
that. I could very well starve to death
before you get back".

"Why not take a chance that I might pull
you under and come over and get a nice
cool drink.. while I try to satisfy my hunger.

King said,  "no I will just travel down this
path while you think about your hunger.
I will find another place to drink that will
not pull me under.

Croc said "fine! Do what you want. There
will be other thirsty creatures visiting today.
Just remember that at my lake you don't
ever ... ever ...have it your way".

Moral: The King reined for a couple more
years...no big deal. The big old fat crocodile
remains, at his lake, waiting for his next meal.
