Monkey Business
I suppose that I've been an observer of religion
more so than a mere partaker.
It's not that I haven't tried because I have.
It's just they've all got a different opinion
of our Maker.
I grew up Catholic all of my young life,
got excommunicated for divorcing my wife.
I've been to Methodist, Baptist and Pentecostal.
I've gone to Kingdom Halls, barn yard stalls,
and under tents enough to cover a castle.
I've been to the churches on the rock,
even at a local synagogue we've got.
And I still have no idea what to do?
So my philosophy is ... as simple as this:
Just let all the monkeys run the zoo.
I've been baptized 3 times in the name of the Lord,
one of which when I was dunked straight under.
And one more try when a priest happened by,
while I was preparing to die,
it's funny now but it kinda makes me wonder?
Anymore it's not hard to do business in church,
television and the internet make it so simple.
Just turn on the tube for a proctological lube,
"We'll make your living and bedroom a temple."
"We'll sell you crosses and prayer cloths, videos and medals,
cake and cookies can be bought at our spring time family bazaar,
We feel all your pain but please come shopping again,
You'll get your receipts at church near the altar tomorrow."
And I still don't know what to do?
So my philosophy is ... just as simple as this:
Let all the monkeys run the zoo.
