Where Would I Go? 04/25/2003

Lord, there is one who would take You away,
convinced that You are not there anyway.
When something within wants to say it's true,
a frantic search to fill the hollow void ensues.

When the cherished faith of the heart seems unreal,
the soul cries out in the dark emptiness as it kneels.
Where else can the soul bring the world's heavy cares,
or who else will comfort a heart's pain, agony's glare.

What would all the years of devotion mean,
and where would one spend the years yet to be?
If the words we sing are no longer of Thee,
what in this world or the next will happen to me?

There is nothing to be seen or heard in this life alone,
to replace Your Holy promises of an eternal home.
Promises that banish the emptiness of the years of time,
filling them with heaven's brilliant rewards divine.

There are fewer and fewer years left to my journey's end,
keep me focused on the most righteous ways to spend.
Do not allow a doubting heart to keep me from Your way,
keep me always knowing that heaven awaits my final day.

John 6:67-68  "So Jesus said to the twelve, "You don't want
to leave too, do you?" Simon Peter answered him, "Lord, to
whom would we go?  You have the words of eternal life."
