high tide look!
there is the blue sea and
the golden sand.
people with picnics
and children
and hurrying,scurrying dogs
chasing sticks and stones and balls,
right into the sea
the blue, calm sea where people in pairs
and crowds and rarely alone, walk toward
and gaze at and sometimes paddle in,
if it's not too cold
and canoes bob about while the paddlers
fight their way against the waves
that are rising.
and in the distance lies the old harbour
pushing out to sea like a lonely finger
as i wonder if i could, would be brave enough
to hold my breath and not panic,
not fight for air and just glide
seal-like beneath the waves
and be gone...... |
