ON ONE EARLY DAY ON ONE EARLY DAY
Th idle attention,I pay
Half blue and grey
Sky plus this early day
Cause me to see and say
Of a hawk, hunting its prey_
Strong, healthy and gay_
Just for fun or play
Though months after its birth day
Must have married a lady
Mate to nest its baby
Yet each fends for each belly
While a man of sixty,
Ugly, haggard and weary
Hawk the street for penny
To feed not his shrinking belly
But his poor lazy lady
His son his daughter and his baby
Then I wonder why heavenly daddy
Allows the poor and the needy
To pick a lady and marry
And suffer being a daddy. |
