Welcome to my poetry page. These poems represent many life phases of experience for everyone. Being a psychologist for 20 years, I think I can say that people hold multiple archetypes within them and this poetry is a representation of the feelings, images, and ongoing flood of fantasy and reality which overtake us. I have turned to writing, as being a therapist actually has been constricting after 20 years. And I can say, after being a student in the art of psychotherapy, I have turned to the psychotherapy of art--in this case written art, so that I do not have to be contained by current theories or perspectives of the human mind. The human mind is more than what psychologists, biologists, physiologists, or anyone can describe. Our world is more than that comprised by the current physicist's formula. It is truly the artist, in picture, in words, in music, who captures the imagination which God has given us. The older I become, the more I realize that the artist molds and reflects human experience, whereas the scientist merely places it in a formula--and that formula ultimately can be restricting, by narrowing what is experienced in its version of truth. Fantasy, feeling, and creative imagination are the true spirit of what it means to be human. These are what point to the essence of "truth." Enough said. |
