Temptation**

Lord, you were tempted to accept sin,
yet the only man who did not enter in.
Help us not to harden our hearts,
from which you judge even hidden parts.

Lay bare all our thoughts and intent,
for only you know how our souls are bent,
receive us through your mercy and grace,
that our faith evil cannot replace.

Through your sacrifice and suffering yesterday,
we are redeemed to follow a better way,
forgiven a debt we could never hope to blot out,
given eternal salvation no room for doubt.

Our temptations no greater than Thine,
your earthly walks sin could not define.
Your saving grace gives me a heavenly place,
extending its promise to the whole human race.

1 Corinthians 10:13  "No temptation has overtaken
you but such as is common to man; and God is
faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted
beyond what you are able, but with the temptation
will provide the way of escape also, so that you
will be able to endure it."
