Forgiven Yesterday**

What if a wrong done today,
could have been forgiven yesterday?
Forgiven before it even occurred,
before you could say a forgiving word?

Something spilled that makes a mess,
perhaps too easy a test?
A betrayal by someone you trust,
might leave forgiveness in the dust.

A promise is just not kept,
something you can't easily accept.
A lie is told that causes disbelief,
the results of which bring much grief.

But today you have a chance,
to forgive it all in advance,
to know that something will go wrong,
but plan to forgive before it comes along.

It is a test meant for only the most strong,
a difficult task that to a Holy one belonged.
One who forgave the sins we do today,
by becoming sin's sacrifice yesterday.

Hebrews 7:27  "Unlike the other high
priests, he does not need to offer
sacrifices day after day, first for
his own sins, and then for the sins of
the people. He sacrificed for their
sins once for all when he offered himself."
