Everlasting Arms 2008

Trees are never exactly the same,
with branches reaching from the earth they came.
Trunks with roots buried in the ground,
as awesome as the branches that astound.

Untamed arms reach higher and higher above,
stretching towards the sky they seem to love.
Shading the earth from the hot sun above,
providing homes for cardinals and doves.

Squirrels scamper up and around so free,
playing among the branches of their favorite tree.
Cats climb up and oft can't come down,
while rescurers rescue with many a frown.

Man plants and man cuts down trees on end.
Sometimes trees buckle from winds that bend.
Oft roots do not keep their stranglehold,
century's are lost when they unfold.

The tree on which our Savior hung,
was the one on which our salvation had begun.
The cherished body, God's only son,
prophecy fulfilled, redemption won.

Deuteronomy 33:27  "The eternal God is
a dwelling place, and underneath are the
everlasting arms...
