'Accordion'

When I was young, I wanted to be well hung
so I could cut out the middle man.

These days I'm just high strung
with my feet firmly on the ground
and it was a stretch to remember at length when it was any different.

These days I'm just high strung,
fearing the time when I'll be old and unplugged,
when I can no longer take the sound.

Fearing the time when I'll be old and unplugged
because I'm scared stiff of covering new ground.

A life,
according to an accordion!
