Digging Deep**

Lord, we enjoy so many of Your gifts each day,
all the wonderful things that You bring our way,
expecting everything to have a positive sway,
since we know the power Your prayers convey.

That power is given to us as we talk to You,
to give us strength in all life takes us through,
yet not a power that alters Your plans,
allowing us to place ourselves in Your hands.

Prayers do not change who You are,
only changing us in our most desperate hour,
bringing hope in the midst of despair,
whatever the outcome, You are there.

Digging deep for what hides inside,
searching out self-righteous pride,
until we reach a place of surrender,
to Your infinite wisdom and splendor.

There is so much that You freely give,
yet we see not the gifts that help us live,
they are but what we think we have earned,
with all the knowledge we strive to learn.

Life will teach us who truly provides,
Your objectives are not for us to decide,
losses we will mourn trusting in Your word,
as the only undeniable truth ever heard.

Whatever answers the world obtains,
lead only to more questions that remain,
a circle that ends with no lasting hope,
not understanding how vast the scope.

Your sight, as were all our fore fathers. Our days on
earth are like a shadow, without hope."
