Follow Me There  08/03/2003

Lord, how hard it is to follow,
even as it is hard to swallow,
the road of a stranger,
knowing there might be danger.

Maps are read,
     that tell us the way,
but miscalculations,
     can send us astray.

When weather is fair,
it is easy to get there.
Yet, when foul weather prevails,
     sure passage often fails.

Vision washed by sheets of rain,
does not see turns where they came.
Now we move with no known direction,
trying to somehow make a correction.

With surprise we soon discover,
we have not gone the wrong way,
          just another,
that takes us where we needed to go,
by a way we did not know.

Matthew 16:24  Then Jesus said to his
disciples, "Whoever wants to be my
disciple must deny themselves and take
up their cross and follow me.
