Called To Task 04/10/2020

Lord, what battles do we fight today,
without the help of the heavenly forces You
          send our way?
Wars not waged on explosive battlefields,
but in everyday lives this world yields.

We hunger for more than water and food,
day to day we fuss and brood,
for what the Lord knows we need,
despite the vastness of this world's greed.

For this earth has what it needs and more,
refusing to give up its extra store.
Ignoring the needs of those next door,
crying out for even more.

Until its time to pay the price,
for what was never thought of twice.
Today we will be called to task,
for what the Lord should not have to ask.

For all we are given is His to take,
holding to tight - many souls we forsake.
The surplus is His and even more,
for we cannot take it to heaven's shores.

Luke 12:18 Then he said, "This is what I will do:
I will tear down my barns and will build bigger ones,
and there I will store up all my grain and my goods.
Luke 12:20 God said to him.  "You fool!  This very
night your life will be required of you.  Then who will
own what you have accumulated?"
