Redemption 2004

Our world has laws that show fair play.
A system of justice we follow each day,
that makes the world safer if each abides,
punishing those who wrongly decide.

But who makes the laws wrong or right?
Who decides guilt in justice's sight?
A crime of many years past,
may no longer be so cast.

Do you go back to the maker of the law,
trying to show them their terrible flaw,
asking for redemption of the crime,
at this particular place in time?

The punishment served can never be made right,
but the freedom regained an instant delight,
even more the crimes we did commit,
forgiven by a redeemer who would not quit.

Isaiah 59:20  "The redeemer will come to Zion,
to those in Jacob who repent of their sins,"
declares the Lord."
