Time Eternal 2009

We measure time by days and years,
the length of which bestows our tears.
Our eternity seen only in earth's hours and days,
is not able to understand heaven's timeless ways.

It is a place where time does not exist,
where all happenings are what earth enlists.
A place where the grave never lies in wait,
where the entrance to heaven is not early or late.

If our loved ones have gone on before,
we may greet them on that heavenly shore,
finding that they have not arrived,
much earlier than those they survived.

When we step into eternity's realm,
where will we enter our thoughts overwhelm.
Today, tomorrow, yesterday must be all the same,
or heaven could not be everlasting as is the claim.

Yet we think in time laid to rest,
'til Christ will come to claim heaven's best,
not understanding that He has already come,
the victory of eternity He has already won.

Psalm 90:1-2  Lord, You have been our
dwelling place throughout all generations.
Before the mountains were born or You
brought forth the whole world, from everlasting
to everlasting, You are God.
