Crown of Thorns**

I tried to give the crown to whoever was around.
I did not ask for its tortuous barbs.
I could not bear its piercing jabs.
I could not endure the weight of its stabs.

But no one wanted my crown of thorns.
No one would place it upon their head.
No one wanted my crown of thorns.
So Jesus took them instead.

I placed the crown with my own hands.
A crown of thorns upon His head.
A sorrowful crown of hurt and pain.
A heavy crown of sin and shame.

His hands were free to remove the crown.
He could take the thorns away.
He had no sin or shame I could find,
and so, I gave Him mine.

Matthew 27:2-29  "They stripped him and
put a scarlet robe on him, and then twisted
together, a crown of thorns and set it on his
head.  They put a staff in his right hand.
Then they knelt in front of him and mocked
him. "Hail, king of the Jews!" they said."
