 JUST A MAN

THERE ONCE WAS A MAN, WITH A GOLDEN HEART,
LOVED THIS GIRL, RIGHT FROM THE START;

SHE TURNED HIM LOOSE, SOME TIME AGO,
HIS HEART WAS BROKE, NO WHERE TO GO;

HE RAN AMUCK, THESE PAST FEW YEARS,
TRIED TO SLEEP, BETWEEN THE TEARS;

HE TRIED THE DRUGS, TO HELP HIM COPE,
REALIZED, HE WAS SUCH A DOPE;

HE WENT TO JAIL, AGAIN AND AGAIN,
LIFE PAST HIM BY, BECAUSE OF SIN;

HE ASKS THE LORD, TO HELP HIM OUT,
WITH PRAISE AND GLORY, HE SINGS AND SHOUTS;

HE'S LEARNED TO LIVE, EACH DAY ALONE,
THROUGH ALL OF IT, HE NOW HAS GROWN;

IN SPIRIT, MIND, BODY AND SOUL,
CHANGES IN HIM, BEGAN TO SHOW;

HE LOVES THIS GIRL, JUST THE SAME,
BUT NOW HIS HEART, IS FULL OF SHAME;

YEARS HAVE PASSED, AND MADE HIM STRONG,
TO LOVE AGAIN, IS WHAT HE LONGS;

WILL HE FIND, PEACE, LOVE AND CHEER,
OR DROWN HIS SORROWS, IN ANOTHER BEER;

WHAT WILL BE, HE ASKS HIMSELF,
HE DOSN'T KNOW, WHAT YEARS HAVE LEFT;

SO GIVE HIM LORD, A PEACE OF MIND,
LET HIM WALK, AND LET HIM SHINE;
