Suffering Of Man 01/12/2004

The suffering of man is payment you say,
for a lifetime of sin that comes his way,
to lessen the length he must endure,
of a blackened soul with needed cure.

Were it true, why seek remedies for what ails,
or comfort the injured when pain entails?
If suffering is what the soul needs,
why do doctors perform their deeds?

God will punish those who follow evil ways,
to purge sin from mans' disobedient days.
Yet, the path that man follows has its own price,
with earthly consequence its final device.

Even earth's most righteous and pure,
oft find trials near impossible to endure.
While the worst of the life of many a man,
enjoys a world where nothing is banned.

Good man or bad, can suffering even the score,
for any of his sins salvation to ensure?
Even the suffering of Job was only common to life,
with no real answers that could suffice.

The only suffering that could redeem a man's soul,
was edured by a Savior long, long ago.
Accepting the punishment in place of you,
purchasing salvation to all who knew.

Isaiah 53:3 Surely He took up our pain, and bore
our suffering....
53:5 But He was pierced for our trans-
gressions, He was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on Him.
