A Closing Door 2004

A mother is gone, a door forever closed,
from which lives lovingly flowed.
From water, blood, and bone,
to sun, earth and sky,
where she first held new life,
quieting a little one's hungry cries.

Leading lives through first steps,
and teething pains,
walking them through sunny days
and rain.

Learning of God through her eyes,
and family devotion in her pride,
that shines as she watches,
her son or daughter grow,
teaching them what,
an earthly life must know.

Children, grandchildren, great-grand children,
have all passed her way,
her once shiny hair,
now turned to gray.

The door which so many passed through,
has quietly closed, gone from view,
but still stands open on the other side,
where she will be waiting
with heavenly pride.

Proverbs 17:6  "Children's children are a
crown to the aged, and parents are the
pride of their children."
