1 Peter 3:1-7 Submission of Wives During Domestic Violence

1 Wives, in the same way submit yourselves to your own husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives, 2 when they see the purity and reverence of your lives. 3 Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. 4 Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight. 5 For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to adorn themselves. They submitted themselves to their own husbands, 6 like Sarah, who obeyed Abraham and called him her lord. You are her daughters if you do what is right and do not give way to fear. 7 Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.

Scriptures 1-6 is pretty much how I approached my previous "marriage." I place the word in quotes because it wasn't one at all-but I thought it was. No, it was a sickening and malicious lie my former abuser led me to believe. The vows were exchanged and saturated with deceit and Narcissistic Abuse. I never persecuted him for his lack of belief but he persecuted me with mine through out our "relationship." He got off on hurting me with countless debates that I discouraged. I thought I was responsible in "saving" him since he was "the one"-so I thought. So I stuck it out, hoping that he'd follow my lead and change. Boy, was I wrong!

If you find yourself in this situation, Get Out Now! You can't save anybody who can't acknowledge a reason to. My abuser was set on breaking me down so I would de-convert. He sucked up my "righteousness" as his to fill the void within. So no matter how much of a good lil wifey I was, he was never going to imitate that. Don't let this happen to you. When you find yourself dyin' to save the very person killing your spirit, its time to go. That person doesn't deserve you and might not ever change. If so, let it be of their own free will. Maybe something or someone else is meant to save them.

Never lose yourself in finding love. Chances are... it never was to begin with.

Loving Self allows you to Love God!
