Painful Milestones**

Time comes with many a bump or bruise,
the most common with nothing new.
Each injury changes the level we can take,
becoming small annoyances of human fate.

In between come the harder times,
hurting bodies and depleting minds.
Changing again what we can expect,
courage when painful milestones are met.

The death of a loved one part of the score,
balanced by birth pains felt once more,
medications and surgeries loom ahead,
causing anxious moments and serious dread.

But somehow we take it all in stride,
our source of strength heavenly pride,
in our God who strengthens us through the pain,
promising an eternity where it will never
hurt again.

Revelation 21:4 He will wipe every tear
from their eyes.  There won't be any
grief, crying, or pain, because the first
things have disappeared.
