Awakening**1992

I have slept the cold winter through,
without my leaves,
it seemed the best thing to do.
I have never been anywhere,
except where I was planted.
My roots reach down in the earth
that is granted.

I wake slowly to the warmth of spring.
My branches quiver with the new life
the season will bring.
I cannot speak to tell all I am here,
but I quietly emerge through
the cold, dark fear.

My buds have burst open with
joyous celebration.
I  am part of the miracle that
shines all around.
My beauty announces the peace
of my presence,
and I have been found.

Romans 8:21 "…that the creation itself
will be liberated from its bondage to decay
and brought into the glorious freedom of
the children of God".
