I`ve often heard the pot calling the kettle black
It makes me smile `cause people have the knack
Of forgetting what they said, I`m sure you`ll agree
And they hope that others have a short memory.

"Hey kettle! You`re black" says the pot
"Oh! not as black as you I`m not,
Do you think you are whiter than white
`cause you are just as black as the night".

You`re no saint and neither am I
We`ve both made mistakes we can`t deny,
Why do we paint each other black
Neither are innocent, looking back.

"You`re no match for me" Says the kettle
"Don`t ever try to test my mettle,
I can be devious just like you
Let`s stop before more blood is drew."

"Are you backing down?" asks the Pot
The kettle replies, "Of course I`m not!
I`m just trying to make you see sense
Let`s put a stop to all this nonsense."

We`re so like each other deep down
You and I don`t need a showdown,
"Let`s put an end to it" the kettle said
The pot agreed to put everything to bed.
