savage

Caught a man in my line of vision.
Had a look in his eye
                      as if he'd lost something
                      and a hunted stare
                      as if he'd do something
And it's strange how we live
                      in bargain city
with zero interest on iron horses
and money's god in most places
                      but see those teeming,unknown faces
turn to watch the haunted stranger
who'se on the road in desperation
                      tearing clothes
                      from his mortal body
while mothers hide their childrens faces
                      and scan the shops
                      for a little comfort
and a little comfort's what you need.
                      Now the road's blocked
                      and a siren's blaring
                      while someone's talking
                      down the danger
                      and it's O.K.
                      O.K.for the late movie
                      where bodies fall for entertainment
                      and the more blood
                      the more you like it;
for it's not real so just enjoy it
                      have your brain numbed
                      by the next advert
as the mass move in for the big finish
                      where he's painted blue
                      and stark naked
                      as the knife gleam's high
                      in summer city
                      and voices say
                      to take it easy.
Easy does it on the black highway
                      where they wrap him up
                      in a warm blanket,
                      wrap him round with medication
                      and it's all right folks
                      the show's over.
                      Back to your lives
                      and forget you saw it.....
