Bridges I Forgot to Burn
As I sit and think about yesterdays
The things I let slip away.
Time just seemed to pass on by,
Left me without the time to cry.
Plans and dreams and worthless schemes,
All lost in the dust of the past.
Empty tears for useless years,
Things that just couldn't last
All is to be a lesson learned,
Of the bridges I forgot to burn.
If I seem to be lost in a thought,
It's just the battles I have not yet fought.
They seem to be haunting me,
wanting me to return,
To the bridges I forgot to burn.
Sometimes I lie awake at night,
staring at the sky.
Voices seem to be calling me,
and I really don't know why.
They invade my sleep and haunt my dreams.
And when I wake,I think it means.
All is to be a lesson learned,
Of the bridges I forgot to burn.
