What Makes A Difference

[1st v:]

Just what
What makes a difference
To me....

Perhaps
What makes sense to me
For damn sure
Makes no sense to you

Losing out
To what is
Unfolding out
So true

Want to believe....
You want to believe
That the obvious is explained
In circumstantial details

Get real
Get serious....

So just how do you explain
How and why....
Just what it is
That you feel

[1st ch:]

Dried up eyes
Explained from
Too much of the previous....
Too many tears
That were cried

Want to never again
Say good-bye

No words spoken

All is refrained

Give in to it
Give it all away
Hold on.... let go
Wait through the night
For one more day

Figuring
Trying to figure out
Just what
Makes a difference

Do you let me in
Do you leave it to pretend
It does not exist
Hoping
I'll let myself out

[2nd v:]

I'm right here
I could be there....

Living deep inside of it all
Reading the fine print
Carved in to the wall

Still wanting to believe in you

But you're so good at
Tearing apart
What lives on for you

Avoiding
Always.... constantly avoiding
The oh so obvious
No explanation will ever be
Ever be good enough
To repair the previous

Step forward
Get it together
While you still have the chance

But you'll let it go
You'll let it go....
Let it slip away
So you can pretend
And take two more steps backwards

[2nd ch:]

Dried up eyes
Explained from
Too much of the previous....
Too many tears
That were cried

Want to never again
Say good-bye

No spoken words

All is refrained

Give in to it
Give it all away
Hold on.... let go
Wait through the night
For one more day

Figuring
Trying to figure out
Just what
Makes a difference

Do you let me in
Do you leave it to pretend
It does not exist
Hoping
I'll let myself out
