Glutton

Glutton for punishment
Is what you are
For a moment I thought things
Had gone pretty far
You seemed to be so scared of what you'd found
Scared away by the idea of me
There is no need to run from me
I'll set your past regrets to long faded memories
I can't help the way I feel
I fell for you
Lost in your smile
Gladly I stand beside you
Inside I crumble to the floor
On the verge of tears
I am but one woman
I can't wait forever
As children play games
Pull heart strings
And bat eyes
I'm still here
I've fallen behind
I take a look around
I wonder how it is I came to fall
To pieces
I guess I myself am the glutton for punishment
