My Name is Nicola J Steel. I'm a 18 year old poet from Sheffield (Yorkshire), England. I've been writing for over three years and have written around 250 poems in total; some good, some not so good. I am currently a student at The Sheffield College studying Health and Social care.
I am in a very happy relationship with my Fiance, Shaun. We've been together for over 2 1/2 years now. We got engaged 12th of Feb 2005 and it was one of the happiest days of my life. I say one, because I was just as happy the day we met, and when he took me on holiday to Majorca for our brithday in 2005. I really look forward to spending my life with him. Next on the cards is to move in together, and then in a few years get married and start a family. I can't imagine my world without Shaun in it, and I hope I won't have to. I love him so very much.
I have always enjoyed writing. When I was small I used to write a lot of little stories, as children do. I'd also get together with one of my friends and write songs. People always said our songs were good, to say we were only 10.
Then one day a few years ago I wanted to find a poem to give to a loved one. I found a poetry site where people could submit their own work. So I wrote a poem. I showed it to my friends and family and they all enjoyed it. So, I wrote another, and another, and another. Soon this new thing I'd found grew into a hobby, then an obsession, and finally, a big part of my life.
I have written many poems, although not all are present on this site. Since I started I've grown and so has my poetry. I feel I've developed a lot and I have written in a board range of forms and topics. I've had a couple published in anthologies and people have requested to use my poems for weddings, funerals, and graduation yearbooks. Now I have just published my own collection of poetry, to which you will find a link to on my home page.
In the future, where ever life takes me, I really hope my poetry career grows and gets as far as possible.
I admire many brilliant poets, such as Emily Dickinson, Edgar Allen Poe and William Shakespeare. It is my dream to some day be as good if not, as half as good as those well known names...
